Jinki stared at the wine glass he held in his left hand. He had a rather bored expression present upon his facial features, but one would say it was usual. His hazel eyes gazed into the red liquid sitting inside the glass, hand beginning to lightly tilt it from side to side. He had his right elbow resting on the desk in front of him, having his free hand pressed against his cheek.

It was quiet inside his office, for he was the only one inside. He had left the other occupants of his house to entertain themselves since he needed some peace and quiet. The past few days had been rough on him, and he was sure that they would only make his headache worsen due to their loudness.

He lightly pressed an edge of the wine glass against his lips, but did not drink. His eyebrows furrowed together and he then set the glass atop a book that was lying on his desk. Jinki ran his tongue over his dry lips and frowned. He wasn’t thirsty for wine, but was for something else. It was too late now, though, and he knew that no one would be roaming about at this time of night.

Running a hand through his disheveled brown hair, his eyes snapped to the door when he heard a knocking sound. He kept his hand on his head, his bored expression still on his face. He might have appeared cool and calm on the outside, but he was actually a bit confused. Didn’t he tell them not to disturb him while he was in his office? It must’ve been something important, then.

“Come in,” He said in a dull voice, allowing his arm to drop from his head onto the desk, making a small ‘thump’ noise that shook the furniture a bit. Jinki still had his elbow propped onto his desk, but he could care less about looking ‘improper’.

The door slowly creaked open; a figure visible, but could not be identified due to darkness in the neighboring room. Jinki’s office was likely the only room in the house that offered light. The figure stepped forward, and he saw that it was a man who appeared to be about a bit younger than him, when their age gap was really only two years apart.

Jinki raised an eyebrow, staring at the other who was now visible to him.
“Well, I’m surprised you came to visit me, Key,” He said in a monotone voice. Jinki hardly ever spoke with him.

The younger male rolled his eyes, nearly slamming the door shut behind him. Jinki could tell that he wasn’t in a good mood, and wasn’t surprised.

“I need to get away from their fighting, and your place is the only room in this house that has thick walls,” He said, trying to keep the harshness out of his tone. Jinki nodded slowly, understanding the others pain.

“Well, welcome to the party,” He motioned over to the chair that was opposite of him. “Have a seat and enjoy the peace; but make sure the door’s locked before you do.”

Key slowly nodded, locking the door before taking a seat in the chair that Jinki had motioned to.

“So, what are they fighting about this time?” Jinki asked, picking up his wine glass and taking a small sip of the liquid. His expression didn’t look satisfied, but it was better than nothing.

“I don’t even know,” Key said, gently massaging his forehead with his thumb and index finger as he closed his eyes. “I was just in my room reading when all of a sudden they started shouting at each other.”

Jinki hummed softly at his response. So that's why he hadn't heard his order. He set his wine glass back on the book. “They tend to do that, huh?” He cracked a small smile at Key; something he didn’t do too often.

Key ceased his actions and opened his eyes, letting both hands rest in his lap. He then looked back up at Jinki, frowning a little. “I guess they do it since they’re so bored at night. I don’t know; maybe I should ask one of them when they’re not screaming their heads off…”

“That seems like the best option,” Jinki’s smile disappeared, replaced by his bored demeanor. “Perhaps we could find a way to ease their issues and rid of our headaches.”

“…I guess,” Key said. He cleared his throat lightly, a sign that he wanted to change the subject. “So, how was the meeting with the wolf leader that you attended yesterday?”

Jinki glanced down at his lap, tapping his fingers one after another on the desk lightly.

“It was fairly well,” He replied after a moment, looking back at Key. “We just spoke of the usual matters; nothing new, really.”

Key nodded a few times. “Right,” He bit the inside corner of his cheek, appearing doubtful.
“You both didn’t happen to…speak of her, did you?”

The older male stopped tapping his fingers, expression turning a bit more serious upon hearing the question. “…We exchanged a few words over her, but we are trying not to worry. She hasn’t caused us any issues for the past two years, so it is not reasonable for us to discuss it.”

Key sighed, realizing that he had just ruined the mood. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have asked,” He said.

Jinki only shook his head, raising his hand a bit.

“No, no, it’s fine. I understand why you would ask,” He raised his head off his hand that he had been resting his cheek on, allowing his arm to flop onto the desk. “If you ever have any questions, then don’t be afraid to ask them, alright?” Jinki knew that he could appear frightening to most; even his own clan, but he didn’t mean to a majority of the time.

“…Alright,” Key said after some thinking. He then suddenly stood up from his seat, brushing his blonde bangs out of his eyes. “I’m going to go try to calm the others down. I feel better now, so I’ll just leave you to yourself…"

Jinki was somewhat saddened, as he was enjoying the talk that they were having. “Good idea,” He said. “If things get to hostile, let me know.”

“I will,” Key walked over to the door, opening it a small bit and glancing over his shoulder. “It was nice talking to you, Jinki.” He then left, shutting the door behind him.

“…You too,” A sigh left his lips. He pressed a hand against his forehead.

I wish he didn’t remind me of that witch…

But really, I didn't mean to make it that way; I just couldn't think of anything better-- ;;
Anyone, here's some literature I produced today. Woo--

Key and Jinki don't belong to me. They belong to themselves.
